SUMMER STYLING IN YELLOW: SALES, DRESSES, & WOVEN GOODS

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale opened to the public on Friday! Prices go back up on August 5th, so don’t worry if something in your favorite color or your size is out of stock – they tend to restock their merchandise.

I’m beginning to notice that once the anniversary sale is in full swing, many other retailers start slashing their prices around the same time. Most pieces from my outfit are on sale from stores that are also currently having major mark downs!

Dress:

Bcbgmaxazria Handkerchief-Hem Midi Dress

This dress is a gorgeous warm, honey gold color (BCBG calls the color “golden glow”). It is supposed to be a midi dress, but the longer parts of the bottom reach my ankles and the shorter parts hit slightly below my knees (I’m 5’4 and wearing an XXS). The waist is strap-adjustable, which is an important feature for making this dress fit well.

I love the drapes of this dress, they make the attire feel so light and comfortable. The loose fabric also is useful for hiding that food baby. Twirling around wearing this is fun too… I have many silly, blurry pictures of me spinning around that made me dizzy just going through them.

Overall, it is the perfect staple for weddings, summer gatherings, and fancy dinners.

Basket Tote:

Xinh & Co. Mini Basket Tote – on sale

A woven basket tote worn against yellow creates the perfect summer ensemble. This straw tote is on sale at Madewell. It’s really light weight, and packs a ton of things inside of it. An amazing feature is that it is collapsable – the bag can be easily packed up for the next trip with it barely taking any room. Win, win. Not to mention, the pom poms are adorable!

Foretell Bolo Necklace – on sale at Madewell

The low v-neck makes the dress perfect to pair with jewelry. I wore gold accessories to match the color of this outfit. The necklace I am wearing is adjustable so that the pendant can rest exactly where you want it.

A similar Madewell necklace that is also adjustable, is the Arrowdrop bolo necklace. The necklace is marked down as a part of the Nordstrom anniversary sale (hello low prices!), and currently, this style is not in stock at Madewell.

Sphere Linear Drop Earrings – on sale for less than $5! 

Normally I’m pretty simple with my earrings: I tend to gravitate towards small studs because 1) I’m active and freak out when earrings whip my face and 2) I cringe when they get caught on stuff like my hair or clothes. However, I couldn’t resist these for only $4.88. They are fun and so far, I haven’t had an issue with them getting caught on anything.

Floppy Hat:

August Hats: Fruit Stand Floppy Hat 

This lemon hat is handy on those blinding sunny days. UV shielding, the large brim covers my face (and eyes) for full protection. It is also adjustable, which is fantastic for me because my head seems to either shrink or grow depending on what my hair feels like doing that day (it was super humid on the day these pictures were taken so the adjustable strings were pretty loose. Ha!)
